Giving Back - Serenity in Sunflowers
I love Sunflowers, they are my favourite flower and make me very happy. This collection of images were captured during lockdown September 2020 just as businesses were very slowly starting to reopen & social distance was still in full force, it was an opportunity for me to meet up with a good friend outdoors and brought me a lot of joy during a very uncertain time.
The Sunflower Field is part of Holland Ridge Farm NJ and is a family-owned flower-grower and flower-farm in central New Jersey. In addition to being a working farm they also provide pick-your-own seasonal Tulips & Sunflowers.
The rows & fields go on and on and are beautiful close up and from a distance. I delightfully roamed every aisle from side to side beaming with joy at the size, colour and sheer amount of gorgeous sunflowers. I took so many photographs and took home so many buckets of Sunflowers I ran out of vases & buckets!
To maintain their happy, joyful memories I made an assortment of accessories for myself & others to share the happiness: notecards, prints, placemats, mugs, tote bags, even a bathmat!
When I discovered the Sunflower was the national flower of Ukraine I did not hesitate to decide this was a way for me to help raise funds and contribute. I chose 8 different designs in notecards & print to include where all profits from Sunflower sales were 100% contributed to Unicef to support children in Ukraine.
