There are many aspects to consider before purchasing such as where will you hang or place your new Photo Art Print or Fine Art Print, do you prefer your Art framed or mounted, what colour frame, complementary or co-ordinated and what size & finish for the frame.
Before you jump head to framing let’s consider the print size and aspect ratio of your image choice.
Print size is the actual size of the Photo Art Print which may or may not include a border then either be mounted-only, framed-only or mounted & framed to fill a specific sized wall space. Standard US print & frame sizes are 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20 while standard UK frame sizes are also noted as A2, A3, A4.

What does aspect ratio mean? Simply put, it identifies the proportional ratio of the length vs the width of the image and is written as a ratio.
Think of watching a regular vs widescreen movie on TV, when viewed depending upon the movie format it may have black bars across the top/bottom of the screen, or how the Instagram grid crops all images to 1:1 square despite the option to post individually in landscape or portrait format as examples.
Most photographs are captured in ratio of 3:2/2:3 which is the widest form it can be captured in (apart from panoramic view) however the size it is printed may crop out part of the image as shown below. In basic terms this means always check the final image before printing as detail in the borders may be cropped out depending upon sizing and should be accounted for & adjusted as required in preview.
Framing or mounting preference is an individual choice as you may prefer your print to appear mounted & unframed or both where the frame will complement or co-ordinate with the image palette. A white mount helps to expand & enlarge the image to give a frame within a frame however always check the final interior & exterior size if a frame is preferred as most frames are standard size and US vs UK sizes vary.

Classic & Creative Frames can be purchased for Mounted Photo Art Prints from a variety of local & national retailers (if items are purchased separately) where mounting fit should be checked prior to purchase to avoid inconsistencies, where possible.
Frame size & style is the choice of the individual and may be influenced by the colour palette of the print or the room where it will be displayed. Don’t be afraid to experiment with irregular size or style frames to add a pop of colour or texture to a gallery-style wall and mix up sizing so it doesn’t line up all of the prints in a grid or linear style. Rule of thumb, the frame should not over-power or distract from the print which should always be the focal point.

To care for your investment & obtain best results use a lightweight frame with acrylic or non-reflective glass, even better if it is UV protectant, hang out of direct or harsh sunlight in dry conditions, avoid exposure to excess moisture and wipe exterior gently & regularly with a clean and dry smooth cloth.
